REVIVAL 2010

For those wondering, here’s what’s been dominating my thoughts and free time these past few weeks.

Revival 2010 is an event happening on Friday at 7pm on UNCW Campus (in the Burney Student Center).

But what IS it?

This whole idea of Revival 2010 is based around this simple question:  “What if the student body at UNCW gathered to pray for the campus?”  My friend Christina Cramer had this laid on her heart while she was in San Diego on Summer Project last year.  She immediately told her boyfriend (and my really good friend) Dylan Dodson about the idea and they agreed to do what God asked them:  to make a revival happen on UNCW campus.  They started prayer meetings and asked friends to volunteer to spread the word.  The goal was to get this campus praying and the event itself would be a big advertisement for these prayer meetings and a way to get everyone on campus praying constantly.

I came into the story about a month ago when Dylan asked me to lead the band that would be playing at the event itself; he wouldn’t be able to help me with the music as he would be the speaker.  It would be my job to get a setlist together, organize a band, and take care of the tech specs for the venue.  In short, I was to be one part worship leader and one part creative director for the event.  A big undertaking for a big event.

To give a little perspective, it’s been almost a year and a half since I’ve led worship for a big crowd, much less a room of potentially 1000 students (which is what we’re praying for).  Saying I was nervous when Dylan asked me to take the job is the understatement of the century.  I really didn’t know where to start.  Thankfully, God told me through my friends to stop worrying about the big picture and take the next right step.  The first step was getting a setlist, the second was getting the band, the third was figuring out the venue, and the fourth was organizing practices and tying up any other loose ends.  Had it not been for friends encouraging me to take it piece by piece, I would’ve been sunk.

Revival has definitely stretched me to my limits in the best way possible.  I’ve been challenged and encouraged to turn to God because He alone is the source of all my strength and it’s only with His help and grace that I’ve been able to do the things I’ve been able to do for Revival.  I’m so ready for Friday, being able to lead many students in worship through song is one of the best experiences I can ever hope to have!  Thank you Jesus!
